Most of us have seen Titanic. Most of us have also seen that set of episodes from Pokemon where the S.S. Anne sinks. I'm sure there are other good movie and tv examples of boats going down, but those two should be enough for everyone to get the idea of this meme. Sinking ships aren't fun for those involved in them, but they're definitely fascinating, and there are a lot of possibilities to be explored.

He should have known. He should have said no. Never again was he ever traveling somewhere which included traveling across water. He should have known something like this would happen. Izumo had assured him that it would be fine, that it was a big and strong ship, that wouldn't break. But all of it was wrong, nothing was alright, not any more. And they were far out in the sea or ocean or whatever the hell it was. There was too much water, just too damn much of it. He didn't like it before, but now?

He was desperate. So desperate that he didn't even bother hiding that he is completely terrified, because he's sinking like a stone. He can't swim, Izumo knew that Oguna couldn't swim, so he shouldn't have dragged him along on this trip in the first place. And now he was sinking because he was part earth, and not only flesh and bones.

Sure he had been lucky to get hold of a wooden plank, but his body had more weight than the plank actually liked, and Oguna was afraid that if his head got under the water surface, he wouldn't be able to get back up again. And it scared him so much that he was unable to form any thoughts other than frantic pleas to the plank to please! don't sink!
